This chandelier was inspired by the remains of shark's eggs which can be found around most UK beaches. Locally referred to as 'mermaid's purses', the shark eggs were easily translated into glass through flameworking. The Mermaid's Purse chandelier consists of nearly 300 individually made glass pieces, which hang one from the other to a rough total length of nearly 1m.
This piece is made to order and it takes nearly 3 weeks to complete enough pieces. Once completed the chandelier creates a mesmerizing show of shadows and light.
