Artist's statement about the series:
"The Dark Trees series explores the mystery inherent in every forest, a place of shadow and half-light, filled by our imaginings. Trees, young and old, stand in witness to all that goes before them. Guardians of time and place.
By day, sun filters through the green canopy bathing everything in a gentle glow but as the sun begins its fall to earth the forest slips on a velvet shroud. Shadowy forms slip between swaying boughs. Branches beckon you onwards along half-seen pathways. Winter storms thrash bough upon branch and a brief breeze stirs a Chinese whisper through autumn leaves. Secrets of the years are whispered on the wind. At last, go no further, sentinel trunks block your way."
The use of giclee technology to produce these prints results in a beautiful depth of tone and contrast not present in more traditional photographic prints.
Archival papers and inks are used.
