Kartell Masters Chair by Philippe Starck
Phillipe Starck designed the Masters chair for Kartell in 2010 and it was immediately hailed as classic, winning that years Good Design Award and exhibition space in Chicago•s Athenaeum.
Commensurate with Starck•s commitment to ’image development. The Masters chair is both a tribute and a homage to three earlier classic chair designs, The Eiffel by Charles Eames; Eero Saarinens Tulip chair; and the Fritz Hansen Series 7 by Arne Jacobsen. The flowing, sinuous silhouettes of all three of these chairs are clearly visible in the aptly-named Masters chair – in what Starck calls a Ã’stylistic summation“.
Constructed of durable, scratch-resistant, velvet-feel polypropylene PMMA, this engaging and slender chair reminiscent of Parisian bent-woods is both generously proportioned and extremely comfortable. It can be used inside or out, in any weather, and it stacks easily.
