Katy Mellor is a designer maker producing knitted accessories. She is inspired by her natural environment the beautiful found textures and colours of the Cumbrian countryside where she comes from.
These themes are translated through the yarns and colour combinations selected. She also looks at old fashioned knitting techniques and adds her own contemporary twist. She is inspired within her designs by vintage items combining this with notions of comfort warmth and luxury but still keeping an essence of the traditional. This is communicated through her colour palette and the patterns and textures used. Unusual colour combinations are selected and proportion and composition are extremely important in each piece. The materials colours and proportions carefully thought about for each piece.
She uses all natural yarns that are sourced and knitted locally in the North West.
